Sxipper 2.2

August 20th, 2008 New Features:

Improved trainer name management

Added ability to change, remove and retrieve an existing trainer name.

Improved persona data handling

After having submitted a form with data different from the persona selected one is presented with the option to update the persona or create a new persona.

Added grey dog logo indicator to more trained forms

The grey dog means Sxipper can fill in the field, but does not have the data. If you fill in the field, Sxipper will remember the data the next time you need it.

Fixes:

Double click is gone! When filling a form Sxipper will not intervene anymore when using a double mouse click. If want to start over filling a form use the context menu option 'Form Fill'.

Extended Backup and Restore to handle "Remember password" exception sites.

Expiry years for driver license and credit card can be set into the far future.

All values in persona selector can be reset.

Fixes UI interaction when deleting OpenIDs in overlay.

Fixes importing Yahoo ID when importing vCard.

Known Issues:

Firefox 3

UI issues on Mac (PowerPC, OSX 10.4)

Overlay may flicker.

Image Fill lacks Sxipper indicator

A Sxipper logo is not shown to indicate it can help with image file chooser fields.

Overlay invocation

Login overlay can appear repeatedly even after being logged in. (Workarounds: train form to not 'show the overlay' automatically; click 'Hide' in the overlay - this is however not shared with other users).

Single Field Fill

Context menu offers 'Fill Field' option in single field fill even if Sxipper has no data stored.

Extension Signing

This add-on is not signed, as a result it displays a red 'unsigned' label during installation. Extension signing will be addressed in an upcoming Sxipper release.

Multi-Browser Window

If you are using Sxipper within multiple windows, Sxipper may become confused. Simply reload the page or dialog to re-set Sxipper.

Preview: Support to store (and retrieve) local form training information when one wants them or in the case one doesn't have enough "skills". See new checkbox and indicator for local maps in trainer. When one doesn't have enough skill level the training changes will be queued at sxipper.com awaiting consensus from other trainers.

Backup and Restore

You can now backup and restore all your passwords, preferences and personal data using the buttons on the General Tab in Preferences. You can use this to move all your data from one machine to another.

Overlay Editing

From the overlay, you can now add credit card or address data and configure disposable email addresses.

OpenID Overlay

The 'Remember Me' option available in login overlays, has been added to the OpenID overlays.

Overlay - Auto Submit Form

You can now individually configure if the overlay will automatically submit a form.

Password Manager Exception List Indicator

When you tell Sxipper not to manage passwords for a site, the Sxipper icon will have a line drawn over it indicating Sxipper understands the site, but was banned from managing passwords for the site. A context menu has been added that lets you take the site off the list.

Sxipper Icon

Your personal icon that appears in the top right corner of overlays that lets you know it is your copy of Sxipper, can now be editted by clicking on the icon.

Fixes: Sxipper OpenID

A bug with Sxipper OpenID SREG was fixed.

Form fill

Sxipper works with more forms that have drop down lists.

Auto Submit

More forms now allow Auto Submit.

Memorable Passwords

Persona selector now stores memorable passwords.

Province and State Selector

Problem with province and state selector is now fixed.

Credit Card Dialog

When submitting credit card data, the Credit Card Dialog now appears correctly.

Master Password Requests

There are now fewer instances that require the master password.

Password File

Problems importing manually edited password file have been fixed.

Changing Personal Icon

Dialog now shows which icon is selected.

Improved user experience with passwords used at different hosts within same domain.

Firefox Crash Issue

For some users, installing Sxipper 2.0 prohibited Firefox from starting. This release fixes this issue - though it may take two installs for the problem to be corrected and Firefox to start.

Better Privacy

Our Privacy Manifesto explains how protecting your privacy is core to our business. As of this release, Sxipper no longer requires users to create an account or provide an email address.

Help Page

A new Help page provides a starting point for understanding how to work with Sxipper.

Simpler Setup

The setup process is much simpler. Sxipper asks for permission to gather some of your data and then is ready to use.

Preferences

Preferences have been reorganized into General, Login and Form Fill tabs providing centralized access to many setup items and features.

Importing Data

Sxipper now imports password and persona data from Roboform, Firefox 3 form fill history, Plaxo, and Apple address book. Passwords can also be imported as a CSV file.

Exporting Data

Password and persona data can now be exported for backing up, editing, or importing to another computer sunning Sxipper.

OpenID

Sxipper can now manage all your OpenIDs. With the major portals now providing OpenIDs, we no longer need to provide users with sxipper.com OpenIDs.

Smarter Login Overlays

Credentials that were successful in the past are displayed at the top of the Login Overlay. The others can be viewed by clicking on the blue bar.

Faster Sxipper

Improvements to the way Sxipper handles data makes it much faster when presenting persona data and filling forms.

More login and OpenID forms are now automatically submitted when interacting with overlay.

Add-on conflict

Fixed a conflict with 'GTDInbox' and potentially other add-ons.

Address book import issue

Fixed issue with importing address book data when running OSX Leopard.

Delete persona

Any persona can now be deleted, as long as there is one persona remaining. Previously, the first persona could not be deleted.

Fixed an issue that prevented a user from providing a requested attribute (OpenID SREG).

Keyboard Shortcuts for Logins and OpenID

When only one choice, use {space} or {enter} to trigger login. When more, type part of the desired login to select or use arrow keys, and then use {space} or {enter} to trigger. Use {delete} to remove unwanted logins.

"Remember me" checkbox in login overlay

You can can set the "remember me" checkbox found on most logins, in the Sxipper overlay.

Dynamic form detection

Sxipper now successfully fills a wide range of dynamically generated forms. Previously, dynamic forms had to be ignored.

Support for more country regions

In addition to Canadian provinces and US states, Sxipper can fill country regions for Italy, Switzerland, Australia, Mexico, England, France, and UK.

A number of minor overlay fixes too numerous to mention.

Sxipper no longer disabled by update

Updating a Firefox 2 profile to Firefox 3 could disable Sxipper.

Select lists for credit cards and driver license dates added

Credit card valid dates and driver license expiry dates were simple text fields.

Sxipper logos shown in HTTP auth login fields

If the Sxipper overlay was not shown, there was no indicator that Sxipper was able to help.

Training highlight

Flashing field highlight wasn't supported in FF 3.

Captcha conflict

Forms containing captchas from the "ReCaptcha" project didn't work properly.

Sxipper Account

Users lost their Sxipper accounts and were unable to reactivate them.

Firefox 3 Beta 4 Compatibility

Compatibility fix for the upcoming Firefox 3.0 Beta 4.

Automated Guest profile fix

"Guest" Firefox profile was unintentionally created when updating an existing Sxipper installation. For some users Firefox got stuck in the Guest profile. This release restores the original profile.

Multi-Field Fill

Enables block entry of address and credit card information. Use easy-to-remember labels for credit cards (e.g. "Personal Visa", or "Work Mastercard"). Saving credit cards is optional and disabled by default (in preferences).

Image Fill

Sxipper enables you to easily "fill" images, such as uploading a profile picture to Facebook.

Firefox 3 (beta) support

Sxipper now supports the Firefox 3 beta so you can test Sxipper with the next generation of Firefox.

If you move a login overlay to a new location, it'll be there the next time you go to that site. Good Sxipper.

OpenID Attribute Exchange store request fixed

Attribute exchange store dialog failed to show correct data.

Preferences dialog brought to foreground if reinvoked

If Preferences dialog was already open it would remain hidden in the background even if reinvoked.

When Sxipper is enabled/disabled it correctly resets Firefox login autofill

In some instances, Firefox autofill would be left disabled, despite being originally enabled. (Sxipper disables Firefox autofill when Sxipper is running for a better user experience and security reasons.)

Firefox autocomplete is disabled for fields Sxipper can fill

Firefox autocomplete could interfere with Sxipper filling fields.

Conflict with Cutemenus resolved

With both Sxipper and Cutemenus add-ons installed UI issues, such as blank Sxipper preferences, could occur.

Field highlight while training

With some forms it's hard to tell which field you are training. A highlight in the form now shows which Sxipper property type is being linked to each form field. See it in action with the training demo.

Extended field type support

You can now add and train the following data in your Sxipper personas: interests, industry, initials, time zone, age, date of birth (multiple formats), and single line address.

"Clear" button for field fill

The field fill overlay now has a button for easily clearing the contents of a field.

Stable vs. Development releases

Starting with this release, you can choose between life on the edge with the Sxipper development releases, or the comfort of the public releases.

Windows Live Hotmail login working

Recent login problem is resolved.

Overlay maintained when Firefox warning bar appears

The Firefox alert bar, for things such as pop-up warnings, caused the Sxipper overlay to be lost. Fix: Sxipper detects the alert and keeps the overlay visible.

Unicode support restored

Unicode support for persona data is working again.

Sxipper auto-train dialogs no longer modal

The "Sxipper has learned about this page" dialog is less obstructive, since is no longer modal.

Increased form support

More web sites using dynamically generated forms can be trained and filled.

Disposable Email setup fixed

Email verification step no longer requires a Firefox restart, so you can use it right away.

Setup checks for correct Firefox settings

Sxipper requires that Firefox password manager be enabled and that passwords are not cleared when Firefox closes. Sxipper now can set these options during setup.

Unintended uninstall during setup fixed

Pressing the ESC key when shown the confirmation dialog for cancel setup would uninstall Sxipper. Pressing ESC now returns the user to setup.

Known Issues:

Sxipper is incompatible with Flock

Previous releases of Sxipper would allow installation into the Flock browser, however Sxipper does not currently work with Flock. Sxipper now prevents installation.

New overlay

Firefox in-page notification can close overlay, e.g. pop-up blocking.

Greyed out area is occasionally not fully rendered.
